A progressive municipal experience
Municipal websites serve many types of people. From citizens, media, vendors, and people living with disabilities, a city website must be accessible and engaging to meet the demands of a progressive community.
The City of Kingsport worked with Six Rivers Digital to rebuild an out-dated platform that had thousands of documents and was time-consuming to manage.
Working with multiple departments across the City, our development team met regularly with staff to discover the needs from both an outside and an internal perspective. We explored data and work processes and built a mobile-first design platform that was easy to navigate and prioritized the city functions based on data.
Custom software allows citizens to find everything from trash pickup dates to information about their property syncing with GPS data connections. Vendors can also respond to purchasing bids using electronic bidding processes. Additionally, the site is managed by multiple authors across different departments and is responsive to high to a high volume of traffic throughout the year.
Using the site visitors’ data, we implemented custom programming that record search queries and combine that data with comprehensive SEO strategies to improve both engagement and visibility.
The City’s website is one of the most useful in the state and features a quick mobile interface that is ADA compliant for all users.
